In order to effectively carry out the entrance education for jointly-trained postgraduate freshmen, create a good academic atmosphere, guide students to make a good study and life plan and integrate into the Institute of Energy as soon as possible, the Institute of Energy held an exchange meeting for jointly-trained postgraduates of Grade 2021 and Grade 2022 on the afternoon of August 28, 2023. Li Jiangang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the Institute of Energy, Vice President Hu Haomin, Senior Consultants Cheng Zonghao and Ren Xiaoshu, Huang Suzhen, head of the General Office, and Luo Guangnan, Director of the Hydrogen Energy and Ammonia Application Research Centre, Bi Wentuan from the Renewable Research Center, Zhou Chao, Executive Vice Director of the Superconducting Technology Research Center, Zhang Wenbing, Executive Vice Director of Advanced Wave Source Research Center, Wang Jianing, Executive Vice Director of the Smart Electric Power Research Center, Ding Cuiping, Senior Consultant of Postgraduate Management, Wu Jun, head of postgraduate recruitment and management, part-time head teacher of each research center, and all the jointly-trained postgraduates from Grade 2021 and Grade 2022 took part in the event.
At the beginning, academician Li Jiangang extended a warm welcome to the students. He said that there are many opportunities in one’s life, and coming to the platform of the Institute of Energy is also an opportunity. He hoped that students could make full use of the advantages of the existing platform of the Institute and realize self-achievement through hard work and joyful study!
Ren Xiaoshu, Senior Consultant of the Institute of Energy, gave a detailed introduction to the construction, next development, postgraduate recruitment and management of the Institute of Energy in the past three years. He also said that 2023 is the first year of postgraduate management for the Institute. Students who stand at the top of the times shoulder the mission of the times and should share the responsibility of the times. Students are expected to be down-to-earth and reap the joy of success in the future.
Director Luo Guangnan spoke as a representative of the research center. From the relationship between the center, tutors and classmates, he introduced in detail how to understand scientific ethics, how to improve scientific literacy, how to integrate into the Institute as soon as possible, how to solve problems and laboratory safety, and put forward some thoughts and suggestions for students’ future scientific research work.
Subsequently, leaders of the Institute issued letters of appointment to the temporary head teachers of each center.
Lu Peng spoke as the representative of temporary head teachers. He said that as a scientific researcher, he knows the difficulties of students in their study and life, and hopes that students can communicate more and make progress and grow together on the path of learning. He also said that as a head teacher, the most important task is to be a close friend of students, to care about their learning and growth, to carry out the duties of the Institute on students’ ideological and political education, to be in charge of student affairs management, to listen to students’ demands and solve practical difficulties, and to put forward systematic practical work and life suggestions for students to enter the project team in the future.
Zhu Huajin, a student representative of Grade 21, enthusiastically expressed his special honor and pride to be a member of the jointly-trained postgraduates of the Institute of Energy. He thanked the teachers first, and expressed the hope that the students can cherish such opportunities and platforms, make full use of such resources and conditions, realize their life goals and make their own contributions and returns based on their specialties.
Ding Cuiping, a senior consultant in postgraduate management, shared some insights from her past recruitment work. She encouraged her students to aim high, believe that there are infinite possibilities in the future, and take seeking knowledge, goodness and beauty as the orientation. She also expressed the hope that through the cultivation of learning ability, the improvement of comprehensive quality and the cultivation of good behavior habits, postgraduates can gain all-round growth in the Institute, be confident and self-reliant and live up to their years.
Finally, the postgraduates interacted with the management office, the head teachers of each center and the postgraduates from Grade 21 and Grade 22. In a warm atmosphere, each student introduced himself/herself and put forward some suggestions for improvement, and the Postgraduate Management Office and the head teachers answered questions.
Through this exchange meeting, the students have a brand-new understanding of the Institute of Energy, which has enhanced the cohesion and unity of the jointly-trained postgraduates of the Institute. They will jointly open a new chapter in the postgraduate training of the Institute of Energy in the future!
