On the afternoon of October 22, Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and the Institute of Advanced Research of Anhui University of Science & Technology (Hefei) formally signed a contract to settle in Luyang. This means that the two institutes will join hands with Luyang District to focus on new technologies in the energy field, gather high-level talent teams and jointly build an "aircraft-level" research platform in the energy field.

Deng Xiangyang (member of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial Committee and deputy governor of Anhui Province), Yu Aihua (member of the Standing Committee of Anhui Provincial Committee and Secretary of Hefei Municipal Committee), Li Jiangang (academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Institute of Energy), Yuan Liang (academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, president of Anhui University of Science & Technology, vice President of Institute of Energy), Ling Yun (deputy secretary and mayor of Hefei), Zhang Tianpei ( party secretary and director of Anhui Development and Reform Commission), Liu Jianguo (dean of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Guo Yongcun (secretary of the Party committee of Anhui University of Science & Technology), Shan Hu (secretary of the Luyang District Party Committee), and leaders of relevant departments of the province, cities and districts attended the ceremony. Wei Yi, member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of Hefei Municipal Party Committee, presided over the ceremony.

The Institute of Advanced Research of Anhui University of Science & Technology (Hefei) is a new research institution jointly built by Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and Anhui University of Science & Technology. The Institute is committed to scientific and technological innovation in energy industry, aims at the research directions of Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, namely, clean and efficient utilization of coal, magnetic confinement fusion, renewable energy, and smart power grids.It also carries out the construction of post-doctorate R&D base, trains of high-level talents such as master, doctor, academic and engineering postgraduates, undertakes the scientific research tasks of national and provincial institutes as well as Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, carries out scientific research, technological innovation and achievement transformation, and serves national and regional economic and social development.

Luyang District, as the core urban area of Hefei, has continuously strengthened its positioning as a high-quality core area of the central city of the Yangtze River Delta, implemented the three strategies of protecting and upgrading old cities, upgrading industrial parks, and revitalizing rural areas, and actively planned the development highland of "scientific & innovation + industry" led by innovation in recent years. At present, Science Island and Shijigang Township in this district have large scientific devices such as EAST and steady-state strong magnetic field, with major projects under construction such as comprehensive research facilities for key systems of fusion reactor main engine and planned three-dimensional detection experimental research facilities for atmospheric environment, where the construction of large scientific device concentration area is actively promoted. With strong scientific research foundation, they have made remarkable technical achievements. At the same time, the Luyang Big Data Industrial Park,  where the two research institutes have settled this time, is keeping up with the pace of the times,and vigorously promoting the construction of Industry-University-Research bases. At present, it has cooperated with China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, National Technology Transfer Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Anhui University and other units in talent introduction and industrial cooperation,and was successfully awarded as the Industrial Internet Benchmarking Park of the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor in the Yangtze River Delta.

Energy is one of the four key fields for Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center to focus on and break through. The settlement of the two institutes in Luyang means that Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center has new members and new momentum. In the future, the three parties will make full use of their respective advantages and characteristics in geographical location, science and technology, personnel and other resources to deepen cooperation in personnel training, spatial distribution and application of scientific and technological achievements, jointly promote the development of whole chain industries including platform construction, scientific research and industrial incubation, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productive forces, so as to better serve the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and provide strong basic research and industrial technical support for the energy security of the province and even the whole country.
