On September 23, 2021, Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (hereinafter referred to as "Institute of Energy") and Anhui Province Energy Group Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "Energy Group") held the unveiling ceremony of "Anhui Energy Collaborative Innovation Center" in Tongling Power Generation Co., Ltd. of Anhui Province Energy Group Company Limited, and simultaneously started the ammonia-energy power generation project.
Kong Tao (deputy secretary of the CPC Tongling Municipal Committee and Mayor),Wu Qiang (vice mayor of Tongling municipal government), Chen Xiang (chairman of Energy Group), Fang Shiqing (Chief engineer), Lu Hao (chief economist), Liu Yangjiong (chairman of Tongling Power Generation Co., Ltd. of Anhui Province Energy Group Company Limited), academician Li Jiangang (dean of Institute of Energy), researcher Ding Jun (director of the Hydrogen Energy and Ammonia Application Research Center), and other related personnel attended the ceremony.
"Anhui Energy Collaborative Innovation Center" is jointly built by Institute of Energy and Energy Group, focusing on key core technologies and related equipment research and development in the fields of renewable energy, hydrogen energy, ammonia energy, energy storage and electric power. Ammonia energy has broad application prospects in electric power, industry, transportation, civil and other fields. The establishment of collaborative innovation center and the launch of cooperative projects have fired the first shot of green ammonia emission reduction. Later it will surely go to the province, the country and the world in the future.
In the first phase of the Ammonia-Energy Power Generation Project, it is planned to carry out the experiment of combustion power generation with 1% ammonia in the 300,000 kW unit of Tongling Power Generation Co., Ltd., and the proportion of ammonia-mixing will be gradually increased in the future. The project will become the first demonstration project of deep load changing mixed with ammonia in thermal power plants in China, and is expected to catch up with the progress of similar projects being developed in Japan and other countries. In the future, both sides will explore the creation of a complete green industrial chain of "mine surface photovoltaic - green hydrogen - green ammonia - ammonia mixing power generation in adjacent thermal power plants", spread the experience of Tongling to Huainan, Maanshan and even the whole country, thus contributing to Anhui Province to achieve the goal of "double carbon", win the battle of defending the blue sky and complete the construction of "three places and one area".
