In order to accelerate the implementation of the project and enhance internal communication and cooperation, on June 28, the Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute of Energy") held a mid-2022 wrap-up meeting of research centers and research projects at the Smart Power Research Center of the Institute of Energy. Academician Li Jiangang, president of the Institute of Energy, vice president Ding Lijian, vice president Hu Haomin, vice president Tian Jiashu, heads of various management departments and research centers of the Institute of Energy, project leaders and key members attended the meeting.
The participants visited the Smart Power Research Center on the spot. The Center focuses on four major directions: power devices and advanced power conversion, energy storage and hydrogen energy key equipment and systems, safety of power equipment and facilities, and new energy and low-carbon power. It carries out basic theoretical innovation and technological research on the application of the whole chain from materials, devices and equipment to systems, creates an international leading research and development platform, creates a first-class research and development team, cultivates international leading scientific and technological achievements, supports the green development of energy and power with multi-energy, smart interaction, flexibility, safety and efficiency, thus contributing to the energy revolution and the realization of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
The Institute of Energy has established 7 research centers, laid out and implemented 26 major research projects, conducted relevant engineering and technological research, and built several major research platforms. Each research center and project team reported the progress and results of center construction or project research respectively. Up to now, 97 patents have been applied for related projects, 11 patents have been granted and 7 software copyrights have been registered.
Through tackling key technical problems, the 8.3MW pure ammonia burner developed by the Hydrogen Energy and Ammonia Application Center in cooperation with Anhui Province Energy Group, the first of its kind in China, was successfully ignited once in a 300MW thermal power unit of Tongling Power Generation Co., Ltd. of Anhui Province Energy Group and operated stably for more than two hours, marking the key progress made in the demonstration project of comprehensive utilization of ammonia energy for power generation.
The Smart Power Research Center has completed the construction of the main body of the next-generation power device packaging and interconnection molding platform. It has also completed the construction of research platforms such as the R&D platform for key materials and key technologies of lithium/zinc ion batteries, the R&D platform for hydrogen energy and fuel cells, the lightning three-dimensional high-precision positioning technology and system platform, the head-on pilot discharge equivalent simulation experimental platform, and the real-time simulation platform for smart multi-energy power systems.
The Renewable Energy Research Center has built a fuel cell inspection and testing platform and a catalytic in-situ dynamic characterization platform. The kilowatt-grade aluminum-air fuel cell system developed is undergoing complete machine testing and application demonstration. In terms of preparation of solar cell materials and devices, a breakthrough in photoelectric conversion efficiency of 10.7% selenium antimony sulfide and 24% 1cm2 perovskite solar cells has been achieved.
The Research Center for Clean and Efficient Utilization of Coal has set up a small laboratory test platform for the oxidation of coal-bed methane to methanol and a small negative pressure coating test device for the preparation of monolithic catalysts. It has designed and developed experimental devices and platforms such as a CO2-ECBM experimental platform for low-permeability coal reservoirs, a NMR three-axis synchronous loading multiphase and multi-field coupling scientific experimental device, and the physical simulation for the sound utilization of coal-based solid waste and green mining.
With the R&D of boron neutron capture therapy system and nuclide preparation system as the main line, the Neutron Technology Application Research Center has developed a DC high-voltage accelerator fusion neutron source system and carried out research on fast neutrons, epithermal neutrons, thermal neutrons and other application technologies. At present, the preparatory research on a number of key technologies has been completed, and the joint commissioning and test of the 2.5MV accelerator power supply are being carried out.
The Superconducting Technology Research Center has developed a set of 7T small-aperture animal nuclear magnetic resonance superconducting magnet prototype with independent intellectual property rights and technical route. At the same time, it has developed 7T whole-body nuclear magnetic resonance superconducting magnet system equipment, and mastered a series of key technologies such as high-precision electromagnetic design core algorithm, superconducting shimming design, ZBO closed-loop low-temperature design, and dense-wound magnet preparation.
Focusing on the research on the key technologies of high-power gyrotron of the order of minutes, the Advanced Wave Source Research Center has broken through the key manufacturing technologies of 170G gyrotron and manufactured a gyrotron sample tube. It is developing a gyrotron performance testing platform and a debugging system.
Finally, academician Li pointed out in his concluding speech that the Institute's project progress has met expectations in the past two years, but there is also imbalance between the development of centers and projects. Next, each center and project team should further improve their standards, be advanced in benchmarking, strengthen cooperation, increase the attraction of high-level talents, speed up the research progress of scientific research projects, and ensure that the required actions are completed within the required time. At the same time, they should adhere to the industrialization orientation, innovate the transformation model of achievements, and strive to accelerate the transformation of more research achievements into products and industries.
