On the morning of February 2, 2024, the Energy Research Institute of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center held a comprehensive staff meeting in Hefei. The event was attended by Academician Li Jiangang, the Institute's Director, along with Deputy Directors Hu Haomin, Ding Lijian, and Tian Jiashu. Over 200 participants, including full-time staff, invited advisors, dual-employed experts, joint graduate students, and special invitees from the Science Center Division of the provincial and municipal Development and Reform Commissions, as well as the head of Fusion New Energy Company, were present. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director Tian Jiashu.
Deputy Director Hu Haomin presented a work report on behalf of the Institute's leadership, titled "Adhering to Our Original Aspirations and Solidifying Our Mission to Unite and Innovate for the Continuous Advancement of the Energy Research Institute's Cause." The report provided a systematic review of the Institute's achievements over the past four years and outlined the future direction from five perspectives: mission and positioning, construction and development, accomplishments and contributions, challenges and gaps, and future prospects and expectations. It emphasized the importance of fully implementing the strategic plans of the provincial Party Committee and government, following the guidance of Vice Governor Fei Gaoyun, setting ambitious long-term goals, steadfastly adhering to the "one main body and two wings" strategy, and vigorously promoting the Institute's culture of patriotism, innovation, openness, collaboration, and mutual success. The report called for new frontiers in team building, breakthroughs in scientific research, significant leaps in achievement transformation, and new developments in self-improvement to ensure the Institute's steady progress and outstanding results to serve the nation and society.
The meeting also announced the winners of the 2023 awards for outstanding employees, departments (centers), students, party affairs workers, safety, and quality progress, with awards presented to the recipients. Luo Guangnan, Director of the Hydrogen-Ammonia Center, delivered a speech on behalf of the awardees, and Zhou Chao, Executive Deputy Director of the Superconducting Center, shared experiences on behalf of an incubated enterprise.
In his concluding remarks, Academician Li Jiangang, the Institute's Director, summarized the meeting. He recognized the Institute's achievements over the past four years and highlighted areas for improvement. He emphasized that national energy security is the goal to which the Institute is fully committed. Academician Li called on all Institute staff to remain true to their original aspirations, keep their mission firmly in mind, think big, be enterprising, and make solid contributions to scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation. He set expectations for 2024, aiming for significant breakthroughs in talent recruitment, scientific research, collaborative innovation, institute-enterprise cooperation, and achievement transformation, as well as new leaps in self-renewal, local economic service, and promoting an energy technology revolution.
