On May 14, the Energy Research Institute of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (Anhui Energy Laboratory) entered into a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement with Harbin Engineering University, the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Fusion New Energy (Anhui) Co., Ltd. The signing ceremony took place in Harbin, focusing on areas such as controllable nuclear fusion, energy conversion, digitalization and intelligence of fusion engineering, and innovative small reactors. The agreement encompasses extensive collaboration in talent development, scientific research, personnel exchange, and platform construction.
Attending the signing ceremony were Academician Li Jiangang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Energy Research Institute of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, Song Yuntao, Director of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Xiaofeng, Chairman of Fusion New Energy (Anhui) Co., Ltd., and Song Yingdong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Harbin Engineering University. Representatives from the comprehensive department, science and technology development department, and superconducting center of the Energy Research Institute were also in attendance.
During the ceremony, Li Jiangang, Song Yuntao, Song Yingdong, and Yang Xiaofeng, representing their respective organization, expressed a unanimous commitment to deepen cooperation, enhance the integration of science and education with industry, and collectively advance the high-quality development of China's controllable nuclear fusion technology. Following the discussions, a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement was signed on the spot.
The four parties will adhere to the principle of "complementary advantages and win-win cooperation," jointly undertaking initiatives to cultivate top-tier innovative talents, innovate in basic sciences, tackle key technological challenges, and conduct engineering application research in the field of controllable nuclear fusion. They aim to make significant contributions to the economic and social development of the Heilongjiang and Hefei regions.
