On January 24, 2022, the Institute of Energy and the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC held a signing ceremony for the strategic agreement and held the first collaborative innovation forum in 2022. Academician Li Jiangang and vice president Hu Haomin of the Institute of Energy, party secretary Liu Lianxin of the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, executive president Yan Guang and vice president Yu Decai attended and witnessed the signing .

Hu Chundong, head of the Neutron Center of the Institute of Energy, Zhou Chao, head of the Superconductor Center, Zhang Wenbing, head of the Microwave Tera Hertz Center, Cheng Cheng, head of the Plasma Joint Laboratory, heads of relevant management departments and scientific research project personnel, chief physicians of oncology radiotherapy, anesthesiology, imaging, dermatology and nuclear medicine, party and government offices, scientific research offices, medical engineering division and other related departments in the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, Cai Jiming, general manager of Chengdu New Radiomedicine Technology Co., Ltd., and Min Yuanzeng, professor of School of Chemistry and Materials Science of USTC, attended the event.

After the signing ceremony, both parties jointly held the first collaborative innovation forum. The exchange focused on three academic projects, namely, the application of neutron technology in medicine, the application of superconductivity and terahertz technology in medicine, and the application of plasma technology in medicine. Technical personnel and chief physicians of both sides gave academic reports on different topics and communicated with the participants on site. 

Academician Li Jiangang put forward requirements and hopes for the progress of the project, and pointed out that scientific researchers shall fully communicate with frontline doctors, solve the problems urgently needed by doctors, push forward the localization of medical equipment, and realize the health service of Chinese people with their own high-end medical equipment through the cooperation and innovation of both sides. 

Secretary Liu Lianxin said that the First Affiliated Hospital will build the first clinical research hospital in China, hoping to make full use of the medical platform, solve the problem of the transformation path from technology to medical projects, jointly promote the development of domestic medical equipment, cultivate a team of doctors who know science and know how to diagnose diseases, and promote the progress of medical technology.

The cooperation between the Institute of Energy and the First Affiliated Hospital is an important measure to implement the policy of "benefiting people's lives and health". Through collaborative innovation, the Institute will continuously contribute to the development of the medical industry and the protection of people's health.
