On March 1, the Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center held its 2026 strategic planning retreat for the “15th Five-Year Plan.” The meeting reviewed reports by two experts on the innovative development of new-type R&D institutions and the layout and development of national-level innovation platforms and carriers. It also heard presentations from heads of various research centers, administrative departments, and the Institute’s affiliated companies on their strategic thinking for the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. The Director of the Institute’s Scientific Committee, institute leaders, and invited experts commented on the presentations one by one.

The meeting pointed out that the Institute’s rapid development over the past six years resulted from a combination of favorable objective opportunities and its own proactive efforts. Significant progress has been made in team building, capacity enhancement, institutional development, improvement of research conditions, the emergence of major scientific achievements, business incubation and attraction of enterprises, as well as greatly enhanced reputation and influence.

In the critical period of the “15th Five-Year Plan,” the Institute must accelerate its pace, improve efficiency, focus on its core missions, and build a collaborative innovation ecosystem. It will adhere to the development approach of “Dare, Aim High, Transform, Act Fast, and Maintain Stability,” stimulate innovation vitality through more ambitious goals, and ensure the high-quality implementation of the “15th Five-Year Plan.”

Through this meeting, the Institute has further aligned its thinking, strengthened its confidence in future development, clarified its key priorities, and forged a strong consensus to forge ahead with determination.
