Introduction to fuel cell
Fuel cell is a chemical device that directly converts the chemical energy of fuel into electric energy, which is wide in the range of required fuel sources (hydrogen, methanol, metal, etc.), sufficient in reserves (made from renewable energy), unlimited in Carnot cycle, high in efficiency, low in noise pollution and less in harmful gas emission without mechanical transmission parts in the structure. So that it is of great significance for building a green, safe and efficient national energy comprehensive utilization system. The key to the application of fuel cell technology lies in the preparation of its key materials and the engineering design and application of battery structure. It not only requires in-depth research on the micro-reaction and synthesis preparation of materials such as key catalysts and membrane electrodes, but also needs to consider the engineering optimization design and testing of the fuel cell structure from the perspective of application. The advanced fuel cell research office in the renewable energy direction of the Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center intends to realize the practical application of fuel cells, develop advanced methods for synthesis, preparation and characterization of key materials for fuel cells, investigate the synergy principle and rapid construction method of the nano-catalytic element and the mesoscopic electrode structure at micro-mesoscopic level. At the same time, it has designed the advanced fuel cell device structure and innovated the fuel cell device manufacturing process and testing methods based on the actual requirements of fuel cell application scenarios. Finally, it lays a solid research foundation for the commercial application and innovative development of fuel cell from the field of basic science and engineering manufacturing. Related research involves key scientific issues in multi-disciplinary fields such as chemistry, materials, catalysis, physics, mechanics and engineering, with the characteristics of high interdisciplinary. The research direction is closely related to the future national energy strategy and social and economic development needs, which has extremely important significance in academic research and practical application.
