Institute of Energy Signs Agreement with China Tungsten & Hightech Materials Co., Ltd. to Jointly Establish “High-Performance Tungsten Materials for Nuclear Fusion” Joint Laboratory

To promote independent R&D of key materials for nuclear fusion, the Institute of Energy has reached an agreement with China Tungsten & Hightech Materials Co., Ltd., a listed subsidiary of China Minmetals Group, to jointly establish the “High-Performance Tungsten Materials for Nuclear Fusion” Joint Laboratory. The laboratory will focus on collaborative research in critical areas such as the preparation of high-quality tungsten materials, spherical tungsten powder, and tungsten-based alloy powders for nuclear fusion applications. It aims to develop high-performance tungsten materials reaching international advanced levels and accelerate the industrialization and demonstration application of the technological achievements.


On January 12, 2026, the Institute of Energy and China Tungsten & Hightech Materials Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to jointly establish the laboratory, witnessed by Researcher Li Jiangang, Chief Scientist and Director of the Scientific Committee of the Institute, Shen Huiming, General Manager of China Tungsten & Hightech Materials Co., Ltd., and other guests.
