On October 3, 2024, during the China (Hefei) International Science and Art Week, the “Resonance Dialogue — Science and Art Salon” grandly opened at the Cultural Center (Yiyuan) of the Fusion Reactor Park in Hefei Future Great Science City. Academician Li Jiangang, President of the Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and initiator of the salon, invited many leading scientists — including Academicians Wan Yuanxi, Zhao Zhengguo, Chen Xianhui, Wan Baonian, and Feng Donglai — as well as renowned artists such as Professor Cheng Dali, Professor Zeng Laide, Mr. Ji Di Majia, and Professor Qiu Zhijie, to jointly launch a resonant dialogue between art and science themed on “Creativity”. Han Jun, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress and Chairman of the Anhui Association for Science and Technology, and Yuan Fei, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hefei Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Hefei, were invited to attend. The salon was hosted by Yan Jianwen, Executive President of the Institute of Energy. The event featured lively and brilliant discussions. Scientists shared their reflections on art from a research perspective, while artists explored the underlying commonalities between science and art. Participants jointly discussed topics such as how the integration of science and art could enhance Hefei’s urban influence. Creativity emerged as the intersecting point where art and science resonate, and the attending guests engaged in inspiring exchanges that deepened their profound understanding of both fields.

Holding this science and art salon represents a vivid practice by the Institute of Energy in deeply implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important idea that “art, fine arts, science, and technology complement, promote, and enhance each other.” It has built a bridge connecting science and art, carrying important practical significance for advancing interdisciplinary integration and innovation both now and in the future. Going forward, the Institute of Energy will continue to make further explorations in promoting the integration and innovation of science and art, as well as in popularizing and disseminating scientific culture.
