On December 4, 2025, the Institute of Energy and Shanghai Junhe Atomic Technology Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the “Advanced Nuclear Energy System” Joint Laboratory.

Taking the joint laboratory as the starting point, the two parties will jointly carry out cutting-edge technology R&D, engineering verification, and industrial application promotion of Small Modular Reactors (SMR). They will work together to build a domestically leading and internationally influential technology innovation hub and industrial incubator for SMRs, accelerate the innovation and commercialization process of China’s advanced nuclear energy technologies, and contribute scientific and technological strength to safeguarding national energy security and promoting green and low-carbon development.
