Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center Joins Hands with Anhui Wanyi Science and Technology to Co-Establish Joint Laboratory for R&D of Key Vacuum Measurement Equipment for Nuclear Fusion

To promote independent innovation in key technologies for China’s nuclear fusion sector and address the “bottleneck” issues in high-end vacuum measurement equipment, the Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (hereinafter “the Institute”) and Anhui Wanyi Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Wanyi Science and Technology”) jointly held the signing and unveiling ceremony for the “Joint Laboratory for R&D of Key Vacuum Measurement Equipment for Nuclear Fusion” on June 22, 2025. Li Jiangang, Chief Scientist of the Institute, and Zang Mu, Chairman and President of Wanyi Science and Technology, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Also present were Hu Haomin, Executive Vice President of the Institute; Hu Jiansheng, Chairman of the Anhui Vacuum Society; Zuo Guizhong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Anhui Vacuum Society and Head of the Vacuum Working Group of the Fusion Industry Alliance; as well as Wang Tengsheng, Executive Vice President of Wanyi Science and Technology; Huang Wenping and Zang Hui, Vice Presidents; Wang Shengfang, Deputy General Manager and Board Secretary; Wang Guodong and Yan Jie, Deputy Chief Engineers; and Chen Bo, Deputy General Manager of Wanyi Intelligent.


In the presence of all attending guests, Hu Haomin, Executive Vice President of the Institute, and Zang Mu, Chairman of Wanyi Science and Technology, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties, marking the official launch of the Joint Laboratory.


Li Jiangang, Chief Scientist of the Institute, Hu Haomin, Executive Vice President of the Institute, Hu Jiansheng, Chairman of the Anhui Vacuum Society, and Zang Mu, Chairman of Wanyi Science and Technology, jointly took the stage to unveil the plaque for the Joint Laboratory. Going forward, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation on the R&D and application of vacuum measurement technology for nuclear fusion devices.


Li Jiangang, Chief Scientist of the Institute, congratulated the establishment of the Joint Laboratory. He pointed out that nuclear fusion research requires collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutions. This cooperation will drive breakthroughs in vacuum measurement technology and help China gain a more advantageous position in global nuclear fusion competition.


Zang Mu, Chairman of Wanyi Science and Technology, stated in his speech that nuclear fusion is an important direction for future energy and vacuum measurement technology is one of its key components. Wanyi Science and Technology will fully leverage its R&D and industrialization strengths in high-end instrumentation, work closely with the Institute of Energy to accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies, and contribute to national major scientific and technological projects.


A fruitful collaboration sets sail toward a bright future! Looking ahead, Wanyi Science and Technology and the Institute of Energy will advance hand in hand and pursue win-win cooperation. Together, they will resolve the “bottleneck” issues in high-end vacuum measurement equipment, promote the innovative development of China’s vacuum technology, and inject fresh momentum into the development of China’s nuclear fusion program.
