Launch of the “Long March 8” Rocket

At 00:38 on March 12, 2025, the Long March 8 carrier rocket ignited and lifted off from the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, successfully sending the fifth batch of Qianfan Constellation networking satellites into their planned orbits. The launch mission was a complete success. The rocket’s liquid hydrogen fuel was supplied by the hydrogen liquefaction equipment independently developed by Zhongke Qingneng Technology Co., Ltd., a company incubated by the Institute of Energy, Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (hereinafter “the Institute”). This equipment provided all the liquid hydrogen required for the launch. It marks the first time that China’s aerospace sector has used domestically produced large-scale hydrogen liquefaction equipment to achieve full localization, representing a significant milestone in the development of China’s aerospace and hydrogen energy industries. Going forward, the Institute will continue to intensify technological research and collaborative innovation, providing stronger technical support for China’s green and low-carbon energy transition.
